Like every year, the of festival of Ganesh Chaturthi will be a grand affair all around the world. South Coasters will celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi today (5 September) in great splendour.

The celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi lasts for a period of 10 days and ends on Anant Chaturdashi (the tenth day), where Lord Ganesha idol is submerged in water. This ritual of submerging the idol in water is known as Ganesh Visarjan. The ritual takes place with a big crowd taking the idol to the nearest water body, with songs, dance and music throughout the way.

Lord Ganesh is worshiped as the one who solves all the problems and relieves us from distress. It is believed that there is no question that he can’t answer. You can also share your thoughts and doubts with Lord Ganesh and seek a solution.

The Umbango Temple will observe the prayer stating with a havan at 6pm followed by a service in praise of Lord Ganesha. Devotees are urged to bring their Ganesha Murthi’s from home and partake in the recitals of the 108 mantras.

People who would like to sponsor towards the prayer can contact Kevin Govender on 0833753876.
