South Coast Hospice jumped at the opportunity to host fundraisers again under level one lockdown.

With just three days’ preparation, Hospice hosted a highly enjoyable potjiekos competition on Heritage Day.

Community members received a warm welcome from The Cove owners Attie and Marieta Horn and their staff (clad in cultural clothing) with two chefs – Gary Rice and Christina Hill – taking up the challenge.

The pool players were starved and deprived of their arm exercise until it was time to feast.

The beef potjie was a tightly kept secret.

The tantalising tussle between a beef potjie and a chicken neck curry potjie ended in a draw.

A beautiful day was enjoyed by all and a total of R2580 was raised.

“Level one lockdown has finally arrived and we can all breathe again! Thank you to our major sponsors, The Cove, and the chefs who served two tasty hot meals,” said BT King, South Coast Hospice’s fund-raising co-ordinator.
