A dozen South Coast Striders competed in the Capital City Marathon in Pietermaritzburg recently.
Leading the way was Brino Peter Chidzungu, who finished ninth in the open men’s division in a time of 2:40. The fastest female runner was Sigi Engelbrecht, who took 43rd position overall in 4:12.
The fastest male runner in the half marathon was Bongani Mbhele. He completed the race in 1:35 to finish in 36th position in the Over 40 category.
Nadine Flanagan was the fastest female runner with a time of 2:37, which saw her take 163rd position in the Over 40 category.
Athletes are reminded of the South Coast Marathon, a Comrades qualifying race, taking place on 27 April.
