South Coast Striders shine in Bluff marathon

South Coast Striders were among the cream of the crop in the Bluff marathon/half marathon on Sunday.

Four of the club’s members participated in the 42km race while 10 ran the 21km race.

Mavela Nyembezi was the top-placed Strider in the marathon, finishing 13th overall in 02:59 to earn an A seeding for Comrades 2020.

Also shining were Brino Chidzungu, who won the half marathon by over four minutes in 01:09, and Raymond Gaze, who won the 60 to 69 age category in 02h01.

“It was a great day for our team, taking advantage of the awesome weather conditions,” said Striders running captain Mark Smith.
