The Souties narrowly saw off the Boertjies in the popular annual derby at Margate Country Club on Saturday to retain the silverware.
The recent trend of closely contested derbies continued as the Souties, on 935 points, pipped their rivals by a mere three points to secure bragging rights for the second successive year.
Last year, the Souties reclaimed the trophy thanks to a 25-point win (with a winning score of 1130 points), while the 2012 competition finished in a draw (both on 1097 points) for the first time in the history of the storied rivalry.
Prior to the historic draw, the Boertjies held a nine-year stranglehold on the trophy.
Fanie Terblanche and Flip Fourie won the betterball stableford on 49 points with runners-up Arthur Ehlert and Albert Sweetman two points back, while Johan Wentzel and Riaan Croucamp counted out Jim Finn and Alan Davies for third place on 46 points.
The nearest to pin prizes went to Julie Gerber (2nd), John Ford (4th and 11th), Thys de Bruin (8th) and Sandi Johnston (16th).
