Blowout Bodyboarding Club will host the first of five contests of 2015 at Uvongo on Sunday.
Following the recent Southern KwaZulu-Natal Bodyboarding Championships at Margate, most of the club’s riders have shaken off their off-season rust and will look to kick-off the Blowout season on a positive note.
Blowout contests run in a series format with the results over the course of the five contests – to be held on Sunday, in April, June, August and October – determining the club champions in the respective divisions, namely pro, men’s, ladies, dropknee, grand masters, masters, juniors, boys and development.
“I hope to see a great turnout this weekend and I hope the riders are ready to bring their A game because this is going to be a banger of an opening contest,” said Blowout chairman Wesley Coetzee.
Coetzee warned that the contest venue could change depending on wave conditions on the day of the event.
The venue will be confirmed on the club’s Facebook page on Sunday morning.
Bodyboarders are to meet at the venue at 7am sharp. Registration is at 7.15am with the contest getting underway at 7.30am.
The contest entry fee is R50 per rider per division for club members and R70 per rider per division for non-members. The club membership fee is R150 and includes a Blowout Bodyboarding Club t-shirt.
The registration and indemnity form can be downloaded below. This form has to be completed and signed by parents/guardians of riders under 21 years of age and returned before any rider enters the water.
No rider will be allowed to take part in a contest without the completion of the form.
