The South Coast Bass Association (SCBA) held its monthly fish-off in the Oribi George area on a private farm dam on Sunday.
The weather was wonderful and fishing was good. Twelve club anglers competed and about a hundred bass was caught. The fish were small and only 23 fish made it to the weigh station.
The angler that won the day was Boet Stewart with a bass of 1.9kg; he walked away with a cash bonus. The anglers compete for points culminating in the crowning of annual champions.
The SCBA strictly practice catch-and-release so all bass were returned alive and well. Chairman Anthony Card is hard at work to put in place a system to promote large-mouth bass as a species on the South Coast for generations to come.
