The inaugural South Coast Bass Challenge took place in Paddock recently.

The competition used the catch-photo-release system with winners being decided by way of longest fish. Anglers battled windy conditions later in the competition but the warm weather was enjoyed by all.

Everyone met at Gorgez View on the morning for the competition briefing. Competitors were randomly split equally between three pre-selected dams on the morning, where each dam had a cash prize up for grabs.

Competitors were asked to forward a photo of their largest catch of the day to the competition’s WhatsApp group before 2pm. The group was inundated with photos from all participants and it was clear that everyone was thoroughly enjoying themselves. Over 50 photo submissions were received. However, at the end of the day, only one competitor per dam could be the winner.

The official results for the day were as follows:

Dam1: Allen Steyn – 46.5cm
Dam 2: Jesse Bell – 31cm
Dam 3: Boet Stewart – 33.5cm

The South Coast Bass Association thanks all competitors for their support and looks forward to seeing everyone, with hopefully many new faces too, at the next competition. Further news regarding the next event will be made available on the club’s Facebook page in the very near future.
