The KZN SAPS golf squad held a training camp at Margate Country Club last weekend.

A group of 17 KZN SAPS golf members were welcomed by Margate Pro Andrew Curlewis and ladies captain Lesley Erasmus.

The players, under the lead of their number one player and team captain Tony Indarjee (KZN SAPS Golf), attend their first training camp, a requirement for sport within the SAPS sporting codes.

The majority of the players selected for the training camp will represent the KZN SAPS golf team at the SAPS National Golf Championships in Potchefstroom during October.

The SAPS players entered in the 100 Club and the Ladies Monthly Pro Shop Day, both IPS formats. SAPS player Jeremy Daniels was the winner of The 100 Club with a total of 35 points, followed by SAPS player Gordon Chendriah on 34 points.

In the ladies section, SAPS and local Margate member Wilna Olkers ended in second place on 37 points, beaten by Dawn Howden with 40 points. Chiappini Boshoff came third on 35 points.

The overall winner and also a member of Margate, was Lt Col HT Olkers with a total of 8 points, followed by Gordon Chendriah and Tony Indarjee, both with 6 points.

The fourth and final day of the training camp, was played in an IPS format which was won by PJ Mbhele with 36 points, counting out Tony Indarjee in second place, also on 36 points.

SAPS thanked Margate Country Club for the opportunity to play on the course and to keep a good spirit between SAPS and the community.
