Dawn Howden continues winning streak at Margate Country Club

The Wobblers were the first to get into the swing of things at Margate Country Club last week.

They played their competition in a threeball alliance format with two to count, except for the par threes where all scores counted.

Alan Davies, Hans Dallinger and Peter Hunter were victorious with 86 points, while second place went to Rob Brien, Rod O’Farrell and Nico van Vuuren on 85 points.

Piet Pretorius, Frank Merrill and Dave Morrison came third with 81 points. The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Connie Konrad, Adrian Konrad and Otto Mutschler on 74 points.

Thursday’s Margate Pro Shop competition was played in an individual point scoring format and won by Dawn Howden with 38 points.

Second place went to Pierre Malherbe on a count out, with 35 points. Nearest to the pin on the 4th hole was secured by Joe Espach while Lance Howden was the nearest to the pin on the 11th.

The Business Day competition, played in a fourball alliance with two to count, was won by “The Howdens” (Kim, Dawn and Lance) with some assistance from their ghost player Ivan Curlewis. They secured first place with 92 points.

Second place went to Robert Mavundla, Ronnie Mtshaka, Sbu Ntozakhe and Koko Zithumane on 90 points, while Hans Beilhartz, Bob Weanie, Brian Jefferys and Dave Morrison came third with 87 points. Nearest to the pin on the 4th hole went to Jane Davies and the 11th hole to Sbu Ntozakhe.

The Saturday ladies competition was played in a medal format and won by Dawn Howden on 73 nett. Second place went to Hilary Hendry with a 75 nett while Connie McArthur’s 78 nett secured her third place.

In the club competition, the A Division played a medal format and was won by Wonderboy Nxumalo with 68 nett. Robin Shuttleworth secured second place on 72 nett.

The B Division medal winner was Graeme Massam with 72 nett, while Greg Litkie came second on a 74 nett. The C Division played in an individual point scoring format and was won by Peter McCarthy with 37 points. Kim Howden came second on 34 points. Nearest to the pins on the 4th and 11th holes went to Richard Whittington and Graeme Massam respectively.
