Dynamic duos come up trumps at Margate Country Club

Starting off the golf week, the ladies played their competition in an individual point scoring format at Margate Country Club last Tuesday.

Winning the competition was Dawn Howden with 38 points. Second place went to Sandi Johnston on 34 points, while Maureen Ogilvie secured third with 30 points on a count out.

The Club 100 was also played in an individual point scoring format and was won by Joe Espach with 36 points. Angus McLachlan came second on 35 points.

Wednesday saw the Wobblers play a threeball alliance, with two scores to count. The team of Frank Merrill, Piet Pretorius and Bob Weanie were victorious with 85 points on a count out.

Losing the count out and coming second were Johan Hulshoff, Thys Bothma and George Schroeder, also with 85 points. Dave Boyd, Hans Dillinger and Peter Hunter secured third place on 80 points.

The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Konnie Konrad, Nico van Vuuren and Andrea Smit with 67 points.

The Margate Pro Shop competition, played in an individual point scoring format, was won by Carlos Pereira, on a count out with 38 points. There was no winner for the nearest to the pin on the 2nd hole, but Pierre Malherbe was closest to the pin on the 11th.

The Saturday club competition was played in a betterball stableford format and won by Ivan Curlewis and Donovan Scowby with 46 points.

The team of Dolf Willemse and Graeme Massam secured second place, on a count out with 45 points. Robin Shuttleworth and John Ford lost the count out and came third, also with 45 points.

Nearest to the pins on the 2nd and 11th holes were Robin Shuttleworth and Graeme Massam respectively.

The ladies competition was played in a combined stableford format and won by Hilary Hendry and Grace Fourie with 65 points. Second place went to Maureen Ogilvie and Sandi Johnston on 63 points.
