Golfers tee-off for worthy cause in Sanlam Cancer Challenge at San Lameer

Almost one hundred golfers showed their support of the fight against cancer in the Sanlam Cancer Challenge at San Lameer Country Club on Saturday.

Eighty-two men and 10 ladies golfers joined CANSA representative Diane Saunders and San Lameer golf director Meyer du Toit at the picturesque course to raise funds for CANSA.

PC Volschenk and Alice Taylor won the men’s and women’s A divisions on 39 and 36 points respectively.

The B divisions were won by Terry Doré (41 points) and Kim Ebner (35 points), while Kobus de Lange (34 points) and Rose Rock (37 points) prevailed in the C divisions.

The men’s regional final will be held at Selborne Park Golf Club on 24 August prior to the women’s regional final, which will take place at Royal Durban Golf Club on 31 August.

Women’s C division (handicaps 25 – 36):
1st Rose Rock – 37 pts
2nd Rina Rito – 31 pts
3rd Denise Beele – 28 pts

Women’s B division (handicaps 17 – 24):
1st Kim Ebner – 35 pts
2nd Hannalie Brink – 34 pts c/i
3rd Elmarie Lochner – 34 pts c/o

Women’s A division (handicaps 0 – 16):
1st Alice Taylor – 36 pts
2nd Marie Robinson – 33 pts

Men’s C Division (handicaps 19 – 30):                            
1st Kobus de Lange – 34 pts
2nd Hugh Miller – 32 pts
3rd Matt Pretorius (jnr) – 30 pts

Men’s B division (handicaps 10 – 18):
1st Terry Doré – 41 pts c/i
2nd Andries Brink – 41 pts c/o
3rd Lance Casojee – 37 pts

Men’s A division (handicaps 0 – 9):
1st PC Volschenk – 39 pts
2nd J Barnard – 38 pts
3rd B Grant – 32 pts
