Maurice Wilkinson provided the highlight of the week at Southbroom Golf Club when he hit his very first hole-in-one on Wednesday.

His perfect shot on the 8th hole was happily witnessed by his fourball during their visit to Southbroom from Selborne.

The winners of the day’s men’s alliance (two to count – all scores on 18th) on 88 points were Chris Ledden, Piet Joubert, Erwin Schanda and John Lison.

In second place on 86 were Frans Vermaak, Johan Palm, Wieter Palm and Nick van Deventer and third on 84 were Dane Adendorff, Connor James, Gavin Sole and Ryan Birnie.

The winners of the ladies alliance (two to count – all scores on 18th) on 79 points were Carol Lamb, Della Kempthorne, Maeve Mullane and Candida Amm.

Nick van Deventer won Friday’s Chicken Runners Individual Stableford Front Nine competition on 20 points.

Danie Schutte (19) was second, Bob Carmichael and Phil Verwey (18) third and Ersnt Westendorp and Ram (17) fourth.

On Saturday it was time for the Casa Toscana Betterball Stableford competition.

Wally Robinson and Howard Kelly counted out George Haswell and Colin Steyn for the men’s spoils on 43 points, with John Mullane and Nico Faber counting out Bob Carmichael and Brian Hoggart for third place on 42.

The ladies competition was more clear-cut with Irene Schanda and Solange Fox winning by two points on 44.

Jean Corfe and Jeanne Powell were the runners-up on 42 followed by Lee Mutch and Maeve Mullane on 41.
