Jacky joins hole-in-one club after 40-year wait

Jacky van Heerden celebrated a special milestone when he scored his first hole-in-one after 40 years of golf on the 17th at Port Shepstone Country Club on Friday.

Van Heerden the following day placed second in the betterball bonus bogey with Abel Yeeranna, three points behind Fanie Kuhn and Louis Klopper, who took the spoils on +13.

Van Heerden and Yeeranna won a count out which saw them move Kevin Jeacocks and Kevin Loring into third place and GrahamFabricius and Leon Bunge into fourth position.

John Beekman (41), meanwhile, beat Ian Stewart on a count out to win Wednesday’s individual stableford.

Paul Geoffrey was third on 40 points, followed by Francis Moerdyk in fourth on 39 points.

Friday’s Pro Shop Business Day (mystery holes 6 and 12) was won by Marley, consisting of Gerald Koch, Koos Fouche, Dave Milne and Roly Shaw (96 + 6 = 102).

They beat Swift’s Charles Mostert, Leon Reeders, Ken Morris and Kevin Loring (93 + 9 = 102) on a count out. Mol, consisting of Moerdyk, Lyn Mol and De Villiers duo Johan and Jacques (92 + 8 = 100) were third on a count out.
