Memorable moments just keep on coming at Southbroom Golf Club this summer.
As we recently reported, there’s been no shortage of highlights to end off 2017 and start 2018.
Adding their names to the highlight reel were Malcolm Greenland, Gary Purtell, Colin McKay and Ross Mckay, who won the major alliance.
Two scores counted, three on holes 7, 8, 16 and 17 and all four on holes 9 and 18.
Lighting interfered with play, so the competition was reduced to nine-hole scores.
Greenland and company won comfortably with 61 on the front nine, 10 better than the next best score on the front nine, posted by Chris Ledden, Udo Goedeke, Frank Goedeke and Russell Gibson.
Best on the back nine on 53 were Mark Burnett, Dean Middlemas, Charlene Diner and Craig Treherne, with Michelle Davies and the Hully trio of Gordon, Gill and Dale second on 52.
Nearest to the pin were Ross McKay (4th), Nick Riemer (8th), Ian Omand (11th) and Biffy Dunn (14th).
Mention must also be made of Peter Volck and Paul Lawson, who bested Gerald Fitzgerald and George Haynes to clinch the Bertie Brown Knockout trophy.
Arthur Lee also had reason to celebrate as he saw off Norman Farrell to win the last Dad’s Army competition of 2017.
