With snooker gaining in popularity across the country, the sport is in need of development on the South Coast.

Margate Country Club opened a snooker center last year, which became the home of the KZN South League.

Spearheaded by Selvin Moodley, the league proved popular and got the ball rolling for the development of the sport locally.

Moodley, who is fresh off winning the South Coast Summer Slam tournament, is a former two-time KwaZulu-Natal, Durban and Districts champion and has been approached by Cue Sports SA to coach the youth.

As a result, a Youth League has been established and set aside on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm, which gives young players an opportunity to represent Ugu District Snooker at national level.

For more information, parents can contact Moodley on 081 592 8145.
