Port Shepstone Country Club’s centenary year celebrations kicked into another gear when the club played host to the Elan KwaZulu-Natal Open Strokeplay Championships at the weekend.
Over 100 top players from across the country lit up the Port Shepstone fairways over two days of competition, with Tristen Strydom storming to the title.
The Serengeti Golf Club player signed for rounds of 69, 65, 66 and 70 to clinch the silverware by five strokes on 270.
Runner-up Sean Bradley (Royal Cape Golf Club) and third-placed Jason Smith (Irene Country Club) carded tournament low rounds of 66, but Strydom’s superior consistency earned him the victory.
The top KwaZulu-Natal player was Siyanda Mwandla (Mount Edgecombe Country Club), who finished 11th on 286 after rounds of 74, 70, 70 and 70.
