Port Shepstone Country Club will be a hub of activity as it hosts the Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach Restoration Cup this weekend.
The two-day event will feature golf, bowls and squash competitions as the club reflects on the efforts of members, neighbouring clubs and local farmers in repairing the damages caused by the devastating floods of 1959.
Interest in the four-member team golf tournament waned over the years, but its rich history demanded that it be revived in 2013 after it had been shelved since 1999.
The golf competition will get underway with a betterball stableford on Saturday and conclude with an alliance on Sunday.
The squash competition will be held on Saturday when six doubles teams will be competing for the title of Restoration Cup champions.
The team are sponsorsed by Intellisec, Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach and API.
The games start at 8am and will continue until 1pm.
The Mixed Trips bowls competition will be played on Sunday.
Bowlers and non-bowlers can enter individually or as a team with an entry fee of R15 per person.
The dress code is mufti/casual.
