Rotary Golf Day a huge success

Although the weather was not great, the Hibiscus Coast Rotary Charity Golf Day held at Margate Country Club on Saturday was well supported and a huge success as always.

A big thank you to all the sponsors, organisers and helpers for a lovely event. The competition was played in a betterball stableford format and won by Richard Whittington and Dave Young with 46 points.

Second place sent to Joe Espach and Mike Jones on 45 points, on count out. Losing the count out and securing third place was Chris Redelinghuys and Dave Young (as ghost), also on 45 points.

Mike Lee and Rob Weyer came fourth with 44 points, also on a count out, while Simon Shusha and Cyprian Xolo claimed fifth place, on 44 points. Sixth place went to Robbie Myburgh and Tony Westoby with 43 points, on a count out.

First place for the ladies went to Hilary Hendry and Lesley Erasmus on 40 points. Nearest to the pins on the second was Grant Peterson, on the fourth Joe Espach, the eighth Robin Shuttleworth, the 11th Mike Lee and the 16th Sageran Pillay.

Earlier in the week, Connie McArthur, Evelyn Burls and Maureen Pitcher won the Tuesday ladies competition with 72 points, while Lexley Lewis, Beryl Williamson and Lesley Erasmus secured second place on 70 points.

The Club 100 was played in an individual point scoring format and was won by Leon Olivier with 38 points, with Joe Espach in second place on 37 points.

Freddie Boshoff, Keith Pearson and Frank Merrill won the Wobbler’s alliance with 85 points, while Thys Bothma, Ernie Janse and Piet Pretorius ended second on 84 points.

Third place went to Dave Morrison, Hanz Beilhartz and Wimpie Jordaan with 80 points, while the Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Otto Mutschler, Alan Davies and Andre Henn on 71 points.

The Margate Pro Shop day, played in an individual point scoring format and was won by Alan Davies with 39 points.

Second place went Johann Erasmus with 36 points on a count out. Johann also claimed nearest the pin on the 16th while nearest the pin on the fourth hole went to Angus McLachlan.
