The South African University Golf Championships teed off at Port Shepstone Country Club on Monday.
The top student talent from across the country will be in action on the picturesque course over the next five days, with the winners to be determined on Friday.
Locals made the most of their time on the fairways ahead of the closing of the course for the national competition, with an individual points stableford and the NG Kerk Youth Golf Day taking place on Wednesday and Saturday respectively.
Willem Lindeque won Wednesday’s competition on 38 points, shading Ken Morris by one, with Jenny Hulley winning a count out for third place on 35 points.
Saturday’s NG Kerk Youth Golf Day was won on a count out by Chris and Ian Stewart on 49 points.
Gerhard Labuschagne and Chris Stewart (pivot) were the runners-up followed by Koko Zithumane and Phiwe Mkhoma, who won a count out for third place on 48 points.
The course will reopen for the public on Saturday, when the Auto Exec Monthly Mug with be played.
