Southbroom Golf Club has paid tribute to veteran employee Nelson Nhlumayo following his sudden passing recently.

In a statement, the club said, “Nelson has been an integral part of Southbroom Golf Club for many, many years. Nelson’s father was our legendary Head Bar man Jack (Angazi).

“Nelson originally worked as a builder with Roger Langstaff and his Southbroom team in the late 1990’s.

“He then became an essential freelancer ‘behind the scenes’ man at the Golf Club as he transported the course workers and caddies and club staff to and from the course – sometimes working from pre-dawn till well after midnight depending on the course and club needs/ club functions.

“He also helped with caddying and moving golf carts, not to mention various projects on the golf course and ably assisting many members with odd jobs and garden clearing etc.

“A good, good man with a huge heart and very well respected. He will be very sorely missed. Our sincere condolences to his family and friends and especially to his little girl.”
