The ladies got golf proceedings underway at Margate Country Club last week, playing Connie’s betterball stableford format.
Winning the competition was none other than Connie McArthur herself and team mate Shannon Gottlieb, with 48 points.
Maureen Ogilvie and Connie McArthur (as ghost) came second on 46 points, while Una McLachlan and Maureen Pitcher secured third place with 45 points.
The Club 100 was played in an individual point scoring format and won by Joe Espach with an impressive 41 points. Ivan Curlewis came second on 39 points.
Wednesday saw The Wobblers play a threeball alliance, with all scores to count on all holes. Nico van Vuuren, Andre Henn and Peter Hunter were victorious with 109 points.
Second place went to Eddie Gommersall, Ernie Janse and Bob Weanie on 101 points, while Alan Davies, Brian Jefferys and Jim Finn secured third place with 100 points.
The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Keith Pearson, Freddie Boshoff and Frank Merrill on 85 points.
Thursday’s Margate pro shop competition was played in an individual point scoring format and won by Alan Davies with 40 points. Second place went to Robin Shuttleworth on 37 points. Craig Rademan won the nearest to the pin at the 2nd hole and winner Alan Davies was closest at the 11th.
The Saturday club competition was played in an individual point scoring format and while most of the players battled with the extreme heat, Pierre Malherbe secured an impressive win with 40 points.
Second place went to Sbu Ntozake on a count out, with 38 points. John Ford secured third place on 38 points, also on a count out. Nearest to the pins on the 2nd and 11th holes went to Ivan Curlewis and Ronnie Mtshaka respectively.
The ladies’ competition was played in a threeball alliance format with two scores to count and was won by Connie McArthur, Grace Fourie and Sandi Johnston with 80 points.
