The Fidelity South Coast Warriors will be tackling more than just opposing teams as the Uvongo-based rugby club have become ambassadors for South Coast Hospice.
The partnership will see Warriors coach Christo Henderson and his charges source fundraising for Hospice’s Palliative Patient Care Unit, which provides Care for adults, children and babies.
Hospice fund-raising co-ordinator BT King welcomed the Warriors to the Hospice family, saying, “This is a heartfelt request to please support Christo and the South Coast Warriors Rugby Club members in their fundraising efforts on behalf of South Coast Hospice. We welcome them and wish them well in their sport and support of South Coast Hospice.”
The Warriors will kick-off their Hospice fund-raising with a fun day when they host Richards Bay at Douglas Mitchell Sports Grounds this Saturday.
“We’re playing our last home game of the league season on Saturday and would like to make it a fund-raising day to assist South Coast Hospice patients who suffer from cancer,” said Henderson.
“Our seniors play on the day with lots of fun and entertainment for everyone. We’d like to ask for any support via prizes, donations or gifts.”
The second team will be in action at 1.30pm followed by the first XV at 3pm.
