Sheppie policeman takes part in SAPS national tennis contest

Captain Vinesh Maharaj,  former detective commander at Umzinto SAPS, participated, together with 13 other members from KZN, in the SAPS National Tennis Championships at Polokwane.

The championship was held from 19 to 23 May.

KZN won two bronze medals.  

The best province was Western Cape followed by Limpopo.

The championship is held annually and different provinces take turns each year to host approximately 200 participants.  

Next year’s event will be held in Kimberley in the Northern Cape.  

Captain Maharaj is now stationed at the Port Shepstone cluster office where his responsibility is to monitor, evaluate and inspect detective units within the Port Shepstone cluster.  

Cluster commander, Maj General Thembi Ndlovu, congratulated Captain Maharaj for representing Port Shepstone cluster and participating in the national championships.
