Suid-Natal Martial Arts Academy boasts two KZN champs

Suid-Natal Martial Arts Academy karateka won four provincial titles and eight medals at the KwaZulu-Natal Karate Championships in Tongaat on Sunday.

Thinus Bester became both the kata and kumite provincial champion for boys 12-13 years, while Camden Wijburg was crowned KwaZulu-Natal kata and kumite champion for boys 10-11 years.

They also won silver in the team kata competition along with Tyler Hogan.

Seth Bezuidenhout also had a successful championships, winning a bronze medal in kata for boys 12-13 years.

These karateka will represent KwaZulu-Natal at the National Children and Junior Karate Championship at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg on 6-7 March.

Suid-Natal Martial Arts Academy Sensei Coenie Vrey will travel with the team after being appointed as assisted coach of the provincial side.
