Surfer saves two swimmers from drowning in Umkomaas

STATEMENT BY KEVIN FOURIE, NSRI ROCKY BAY STATION COMMANDER:

On Sunday, 05 January, our NSRI Rocky Bay duty crew responded to High Rocks, Umkomaas, following reports of a drowning in progress.

Local Charter Dive operators also responded.

On arrival on the scene, we found 2 locals males aged 17 and 26 safely on the beach after a local surfer had assisted them to shore after finding them caught in rip currents and they were not injured and they required no further assistance.

The local surfer Troy Crawford is commended for his assistance.
