RNM Leadership is adamant that law should be adhered to in regards to the issue of Margate to Durban and return route.

RNM, together with the Department of Transport, which is the licensing authority in regards to routes for ferrying of commuters, has a clear stance on the Margate to Durban and return route. It is worth mentioning that there is no taxi association that has authority or permission to ferry passengers from Margate to Durban and therefore any taxi association that operates on this route is operating an illegal route and with no permission.

Besides the above, KZN Department of Transport has confirmed that the only route that they know is the one from Port Shepstone to Durban and return and Zamokuhle Long Distance Taxi Association is the only taxi association permitted to operate on this route. As a constitutional country, the leadership strongly calls for everyone to abide by the law and also calls upon all Law Enforcement Agencies to enforce the law without fear or favour.

The leadership would also like to urge members of the public not to use taxis or even buses that are operating on illegal routes as this may inconvenience them when law is being enforced and worst of all, it puts their lives at risk since such operations have a potential of leading to violence. The leadership in all spheres of government also declares its support to the law enforcement agencies in their endeavours to create stability within the taxi industry.
