Tessa Beetge, the ‘drug mule’ who spent more than five years in a Brazilian jail in Sao Paolo, should be arriving in South Africa within the next few days.  At least that is what her friends and family are hoping.   Her father, Gert Swanepoel told eHowzit last night last night he had no idea what the situation was at that stage. Swanepoel, who lives and works on the Hibiscus Coast, was waiting for the Department of International Relations and Co-operation for information on exactly how and when she would be returning to South Africa.  Earlier, he said he could not wait to see his daughter.

The SABC reported yesterday that Beetge had been released and arrangements were being made to send her home.  She arrested on a drug smuggling mission initiated by ex-HCM employee Sheryl Cwele and Nigerian Frank Nabolisa, who are serving sentences in South African jails at the moment.  At the time Beetge denied any knowledge about the 10 kilogrammes of cocaine hidden in her luggage.  She was originally sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.
