The fresh produce market was also looted of all goods in stock.
Ugu District Municipality’s water tankers, offices, vehicles and fresh produce market that service the community at its fleet workshop in Mkholombe have been set alight.
This comes as unrest has spread across South Africa with supporters of former President Jacob Zuma calling for his release from prison, where he has started serving a 15 month sentence for contempt of court.
Police spokesman France Zama said the fresh produce market was also looted of all goods in stock.
“Full extent of damages is yet to be determined. Saps members are on scene.”
