The Umdoni community is once again warned NOT TO SWIM at any beach as they remain closed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is with great sadness that on the Day where the country commemorates Youth Day, we learn of a drowning incident at Pennington Beach of a 17-year old male that happened on Monday.

One would like to reiterate that members of the public must be responsible and adhere to all lockdown regulations as these have been put into effect for the wellbeing of all members of the community.

On behalf of Umdoni municipality, I would like to convey my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the lad. May the good Lord give you strength and comfort during this time.

Please remember that NO SWIMMING is allowed until such time regulations pertaining to beaches have been uplifted.

We urge you to safeguard yourselves and young ones and stay safe

Umdoni Municipality Mayor,
Councillor TW Dube
