As South Coast Hospice was preparing for Easter, fund-raising co-ordinator BT King received a telephone call from John Louch of Margate Bowling Club. The message he gave was one that was least expected, and an elated BT “whooped” with joy in the office as the news sank in.

“BT, how would you like to receive two wheelchairs from Margate Bowling Club?” asked Louch. At first, with a hesitant voice, BT replied, “Are you serious!”, and when confirmation was received, she could not contain herself with excitement, wonder and amazement.

On Wednesday, with humble hearts, BT and Darryl King went to the Margate Bowling Club to receive the two wheelchairs and was advised that Margate Bowling Club, in collaboration with Rotary Club of Shelly Beach and Rotary Club of Ballito, the two wheelchairs were made available for South Coast Hospice’s Kingfisher House In Patient Unit.

“How blessed could we be, that we received another two very valuable wheelchairs for the use by our patients who are so in need of them,” BT said.

She stressed how valuable this donation is that South Coast Hospice as it would help more patients with mobility needs and the impact that it will make on the lives of patients living with life-threatening illnesses would bring more comfort and allow them to be able to continue with quality family life.

“Both Margate Bowling Club and Rotary Club of Shelly Beach and Rotary Clubs on the South Coast are long-standing partners of South Coast Hospice. Their partnership is greatly appreciated and valued as their continued support allows us to continue offering quality palliative patient care in our community.

“Margate Bowling Club members also do regular fund-raising projects in support of South Coast Hospice, so we take this opportunity to wish them all the best and a good week of bowling during the first week of May,” BT added.
