URGENT MESSAGE FROM MARINE ANTI-POACHING KZN:

We have received information that several fishing trawlers have been spotted close inshore near Port Shepstone, and have reported them to the relevant authorities. We have thus been asked to monitor the movement of all fishing vessels along the KZN coast, especially those that are moving slowly, and those that have nets or lines in the water.

We ask for people to please assist us, and kindly take note of these vessels, by reporting any sightings if you are able to do so. All that is needed is a very brief description as well as date, time and location. A vessel name would be a bonus.

The Map shows two Japanese trawlers (KOEI MARU No 1 and KOEI MARU No 88) that have been fishing in KZN Lower South Coast waters for the last several months. It is believed that they are being serviced by a large Japanese factory ship that is situated in International waters.
