Fred van Zyl wins monthly mug at Port Shepstone Country Club

Fred van Zyl won the monthly mug at Port Shepstone Country Club on 66 nett on Saturday.

Van Zyl, who happens to sponsor the monthly mug, also boasted the best gross (80 points, B division).

Lyn Mol won the individual stableford on 40 points, one better than Dalene Steyn.

Phil Myburgh won the A division on 78 nett ahead of Fanie Kuhn on 79 nett, while count outs were needed to determine the winners of the B and C divisions.

In the end, it was Dave Mee who edged out Ernst Meier on 69 nett to take the B division spoils and Bevis Fairbother who pipped Ronnie Naidoo on 71 nett in the C division.

Jacky van Heerden was the clear winner of Wednesday’s individual stableford on 44 points.

Carl Grobler was second on 40 points and Ken Morris was third on 39 points after beating John Reasbeck on a count out.

The ladies, meanwhile, continued to impress in league matches against Umkomaas on Sunday.

The pairings of captain Debi Stewart and Yvette Greyling, Cilla Lindsay and Jenny Hulley and Sue van den Berg and Beryl Olden came away with two wins and one draw.
