South Coast Hospice is in desperate need of donations to continue their exceptional care for patients during the national lockdown.
South Coast Hospice has been open throughout the lockdown, now in effect for over 50 days, providing palliative care for patients and supporting families during their darkest times.
The lockdown has resulted in five fund-raising events being cancelled, costing South Coast Hospice an estimated R55000 and leaving them with an “alarming shortfall”.
The situation is dire and has prompted South Coast Hospice fundraiser BT King to make a heartfelt plea for donations.
Despite the unprecedented challenges brought forth by the Covid-19 pandemic, the fire inside the ultra-dedicated staff still burns bright, as King mentioned in her video message, but donations are needed – now more than ever – to keep the doors open.
Since the start of lockdown, South Coast Hospice has:
- Treated 378 home care patients
- Treated 22 in-patients
- Provided 194 patients with chronic and essential treatment
- Supported 133 family members of patients
