The Fidelity South Coast Warriors first XV fired on all cylinders in their 67-12 rout of the Pinetown Raiders in a pre-season warm-up match in Pinetown.
The Warriors scored five tries in the first half and crossed the chalk six times after the break as they put Pinetown to the sword on Saturday.
Andries Fourie, Donavon Horn (2), Juandré Koekemoer, Chris Mitchell, Jaco Coetzee, Sakhi Tuni, captain Juan van den Berg, Dylan Kroon, Bongi Mhle and Alberto van Eck all dotted down while Kroon added six conversions.
Coach Christo Henderson was understandably pleased with the performance and felt his charges ticked all the boxes.
“Overall it was an excellent performance by the team. Young players stepped up and gelled well with the senior players,” Henderson told eHowz!t.
“Our set play was excellent. We managed to secure a lot of turnovers in the loose and our backline running was super.
“Our scrums were outstanding. I have to compliment the forwards with their performance as that laid a good platform for our set phases.
“After the boys settled our ball handling and support play was of a very high standard and we scored several tries because of it. Our defence was also rock solid.”
Henderson had special praise for man of the match Donovan Horne and forwards man of the match Dawie Durrheim, as well as the front rankers.
“The front row forwards, those who started and the ones who came off the bench, did an outstanding job in the scrums and set plays.
“Our centres were excellent on attack and defence, especially Donovan, who’s an exciting, young up-and-coming talent. Our loose forwards also worked extremely hard and Dawie looked very impressive.”
