Springbok star Jesse Kriel has been going old school to keep in shape during lockdown.

The 2019 World Cup-winning midfielder is maintaining his reputation as one of the fittest players in the game with no-thrills, Rocky-like training whilst with his girlfriend Hope Mortimer on her family’s farm in Hibberdene.

Kriel’s been cranking out good old-fashioned wall passing drills, classic home exercises, running in fields and even took up Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘core crusher challenge’.

The explosive centre’s second World Cup was cut short by a hamstring injury in the Springboks’ opening match against the All Blacks.

There was a silver lining, though, as he was able to return to Japan to watch the team’s 32-12 triumph over England in the final, received his winner’s medal and was part of the team’s trophy tour.

The 26-year-old is in the second phase of his highly-successful career, having joined the Canon Eagles on a two-season deal at the end of 2019 after six years with the Bulls.
