Weather no worry for Ntozakhe in Margate Country Club men’s monthly medal

Margate Country Club kicked off November with their men’s monthly medal sponsored by Hibiscus Retirement Villages on Saturday.

While poor conditions led to the cancellation of the ladies medal, a depleted field of die-hard men’s golfers were not going to let the weather get in the way of their monthly competition.

Sbu Ntozakhe handled the conditions best and won the A Division on 70 nett.

The B Division was won by Lou van Niekerk on 66 nett, while the C Division went the way of Piet Ludick on 67 nett.

Norman Bridger won the nearest to pin prize on the 16th sponsored by the Pro Shop.

The week began with Evelyn Burls and Connie McArthur edging Chiappinni Boshoff and Wondra Bothma by a point to win the ladies betterball stableford on 44 points on Tuesday.

Wednesday’s wobblers threeball alliance (1,2, 3, to count in sequence; Waltz) was won by Nico van Heerden, Nico van Vuuren and Otto Mutschler on 82 points.

Four points adrift were Frank Merrill, Alan Davies and Ray Hubbard with Hans Beilhartz, Robert Henning and Jan Richter finishing third on 77 points.

The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Dave Morrison, Dieter Berend and Dave Boyd on 59 points, while Alan Davies won the nearest to pin prize on the 16th.

Arthur Ehlert stood tall in Thursday’s individual stableford, winning by four on 43 points.

Norman Bridger (39) was second, Mike Lee (38 oco) third, Alan Davies (38) fourth and Simon Lee (37) fifth.

The nearest to pin prize on the 16th sponsored by Hibiscus Retirement Villages was won by Piet Ludick.

Friday was time for the Business Day sponsored by Giorgio Express and the Pro Shop.

Angus McLachlan, Una McLachlan, Kevin Woods were David Blain were too good for the rest as they took the win on 92 points.

Norman Bridger, Richard Plaskitt, Piet Ludick and Rob McArthur came in at number two on 90 points with Johan Wentzel, Riaan Croucamp, Anton Kohrmann and Juan Dixon winning a count out for third place on 87 points.

The nearest to pin prize on the 2nd went unclaimed as no-one managed to stay on the green, while Anton Kohrmann won the nearest to pin prize on the 16th.
