STATEMENT BY UGU DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY:

Northern system (5:30am):

Please be advised that after the Northern 400mm Northern pipeline feeding Umzimkhulu was found closed; line valves were finally opened and Umzimkhulu is building, although it had dropped below 30%.

The Northern system this morning improved greatly after 400 was opened. Teams will now focus on Hibberdene, Pumula and Woodgrandge as Melville reservoir has built up.

Further step check for other line valve in progress.

Gamalakhe/Uvongo/ Shelly Beach (6:57am):

Please note the Southern system is still affected post yesterday diagnosis of system valves interface: no water on the 600, 375 and 300 mains however teams will resume troubleshooting this morning:

Gamalakhe, Seaslopes and Shelly Beach command reservoir are now empty and the focus will be to restore supply on 600mm line that feeds the systems.

Ramsgate South and North reservoir are critically low. Uvongo and Margate CBD reservoir supply still affected by 375 and 300 no flow; reservoirs are still at 50% and we urge customers to preserve water.

Marburg system is recovering after open bulk reservoir supply valve yesterday.

Umthavuna system: Eskom power supply interruption from 20:00 last night and matter escalated to Marina Beach office for update.
