Woman arrested for car theft and selling fake sanitizer in Margate

STATEMENT BY MARGATE SAPS:

On Wednesday 25 March 2020 at 09:30, Margate detectives were following up information regarding the theft of a motor vehicle. The investigation led them to a residence at George Miller Street at Extension 2 in Margate.

A 29-year-old female, who has been found selling fake sanitizers and a white VW Polo was found in her possession. She was arrested and charged for theft of motor vehicle and fraud.

The vehicle and 102 x5 litres of fake sanitizers were confiscated. One customer was taken for questioning and released on the same day. The suspect is to appear in the Ramsgate Magistrate court.

Margate Station Commander, Brigadier William Slabbert, applauded the members for the swift arrest and warned the community to be careful of people who might prey on their vulnerability during this time.
