Car nosedives into trees on N2: three injured, one critically

Three people were injured, one critically so, when a vehicle veered off the road on the N2 at Umgababa on Sunday morning.

A report from the scene indicates that the females were traveling from the Umkomaas area when the vehicle veered off the roadway, smashed through the Armco barriers, hit the ground and then flew about 150 metres before landing nose first in a clump of trees down an embankment.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found that two of the females had been ejected and landed in thick bush several metres from the car, a third clambered out and was found under the trees.

After triaging medics found that one female sustained critical injury, while two was in a serious but stable condition.

After paramedic stabilised the patients they skilfully immobilised them on trauma boards before they carried them up the embankment with the help of tow truckers and locals before they were transported to various hospitals for the care that they required.
